dry eye syndrome

What is Dry eye syndrome?

Dry eye syndrome is a common ocular condition that occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears or the quality of the tears is not appropriate. Despite the condition being called dry eye syndrome, in many cases it can make your eyes more watery. The purpose of our tears or tear film is to help maintain a well moisturised ocular surface and also to maintain the health of the front of the eye as our tears contain vital elements that protect the eyes.

As a result, when a patient suffers with dry eyes they can present with a range of symptoms leaving the eyes to feel uncomfortable and itchy.
